It all started where most things do: with parents who lived both creatively and actively. With an engineer and photographer as a father and a portrait artist as a mother, it is no wonder creative tendencies emerged in my life. After college the hankering to paint came calling again. As an adjunct to this, I used photographs to capture the landscapes for the studio, and particularly the lighting of those moments.

After a while, the constraints of life pushed painting into the background; but the adventuring and photography intensified, (and the cameras got better, too!). Then, by the early 2000s, my compositions got better, and I discovered digital photography. Also, my adventures broadened, and distances increased, but I still remained in California.

By the early 2010s, my explorations expanded into the Rockies, Canada, and even Mexico. Whether I am trekking out 10 or 15 miles into the wilderness ,or perhaps a mile or two off the road. I can’t help but marvel at this wonderful creation that has been bestowed upon us.

With the crush of modern life pressing in, being out in God’s abundant creation is a therapy for the senses. And it is in this spirit of appreciation that I approach this work.

This is only the beginning, for there is so much more to come. The continents are calling out to be explored.
